VMware third-party support
with perpetual licenses

VMware third-party support enables the use of perpetual VMware licenses. This is a cost-effective alternative to Broadcom’s very expensive subscription model (introduced with the acquisition of VMware).

The situation following the Broadcom acquisition

Since the acquisition by Broadcom, VMware no longer sells perpetual licenses, and it is also no longer possible to extend support. Those who want support and updates should switch to a subscription, typically VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) or vSphere Foundation (VVF), billed by cores. Many customers have since reported that their costs have increased many times over compared to before.

With third-party support, you can continue to use your existing perpetual licenses without having to forgo support. If you need additional licenses, you can purchase them through us as used software, including the product keys.

“Your VMware perpetual licenses remain valid. Your right to use them does not expire simply because Broadcom no longer offers maintenance. If you have already switched to a subscription and want to switch back to perpetual licenses, we can check whether you still have your old usage rights.”

Reducing your operating costs

In most cases, the cost of third-party VMware support is significantly lower than the annual subscription cost.

You remain in control

You retain your stable, well-established environment and save time. This allows you to plan and implement the migration to other virtualization solutions without time pressure. Broadcom cannot pressure you to take action.
